About

Leveraging the potential of digital health requires effective education and learning solutions for health professionals, patients, the caregivers, and the public. Education is essential to enable innovation, develop talent pipelines and careers, and build a workforce with the skills to deliver intelligence-based health care. At the same time advances in Artificial Intelligence, digital technology and big data are making it possible to create more accessible and interactive educational experiences between and beyond traditional education providers and settings. The relationship between technologies, educators, learners, practitioners, and other stakeholders is changing with the result that education is becoming more interdisciplinary, connected, and digitally enabled.

Future digital health requires more prediction and prevention focused curricula, as well as modes of education delivery that train professionals and patients to use digital health technologies. Digitally enabled learning in the health professions will make greater use of blended learning and remote learning to facilitate digital health literacy. During the pandemic we have seen the potential for emancipatory digital health and empowerment of patients and student communities through digital means. Equity, diversity, and inclusion perspectives on education for digital health are becoming clearer, especially in relation to overcoming health disadvantages and knowledge exchange about global health issues.

The goal of the Research Topics below is to generate knowledge on education, learning, and research projects ideas for digital health. We are hoping to draw together world-leading research for the benefit of global knowledge exchange. A collection of research and review articles will be important for developing the foundational pedagogies and educational frameworks for future digital health.
